Types of Child Abuse:
1) Physical- Leaves children broken, cut, and bruised. Causes serious harm and terror; can even lead to death. Often goes unreported. 1 in 14 children have been physically abused.
2) Sexual- Violates the beautiful innocence of a child. Steals their purity, takes advantage of them sexually, and scars them for life. Experts estimate that 1 out of 10 children are sexually abused before their 18th birthday. Additionally, youth are 2.5 more times likely to be raped than adults.
3) Emotional- Damages the child's mental health and social development, often leading to lifelong psychological scars. 1 in 14 children have experienced some type of emotional abuse.
4) Neglect- Purposeful, continual failure to meet the basic needs of a child. Harms the child's physical, mental, and emotional development. In 2015, over 510,000 children in the United States were victims of neglect.
